On December 10, 2024, Prof. Dr. Adisorn Pattaraduly, Director of World Medical Hospital (WMC), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Aasandha Company Ltd., a joint venture between the Government of the Maldives and Allied Insurance Company of Maldives. The collaboration aims to enhance the referral system and provide Maldivian patients with access to advanced medical treatment in Thailand.

This partnership represents an important milestone in expanding international healthcare cooperation, enabling Aasandha, the national health insurance administrator of the Maldives, to refer patients with complex medical conditions to World Medical Hospital, a Joint Commission International (JCI)-accredited facility in Thailand. Through this collaboration, patients will benefit from access to advanced medical technology, specialized physicians, and comprehensive tertiary care services, improving the overall quality and accessibility of healthcare for Maldivian citizens starting from January 2025.

During the first nine months of 2024, Aasandha allocated approximately MVR 2.564 billion (around THB 5.64 billion) for healthcare services covering 821,989 patients, of which 6,868 were referred for treatment abroad, underscoring the growing demand for international medical collaboration and high-quality healthcare partnerships.
