Goals
Management and Operation Approach
BCH promotes and protects human rights in parallel with ethical and transparent business conduct through the establishment of human rights policies
Oversight responsibility is assigned to the Sustainability, Governance, and Risk Management Committee, in collaboration with the Human Resources Department, to manage human rights issues related to employment and labor practices. In addition, BCH ensures that human rights considerations are integrated into the management of patients, stakeholders, and business partners, ensuring a comprehensive, effective, and systematic approach. This includes monitoring, risk assessment, prevention, grievance handling, and remediation to ensure that all aspects of human rights are respected and safeguarded across the organization.
In the context of the hospital business, BCH places strong emphasis on the rights of patients to receive safe and non-discriminatory medical treatment, as well as on the protection of personal data. The company also upholds the rights of employees, ensuring occupational health and safety, fair and reasonable working hours, and the rights of communities to access safe healthcare services and a healthy environment. BCH integrates its Human Rights Policy into business operations by setting clear expectations and communicating them to all stakeholder groups, including employees, suppliers, and business partners, through its Code of Conduct and Supplier Code of Conduct. These measures ensure that human rights are respected and upheld across the entire value chain, in alignment with international human rights standards.
BCH has established a Human Rights Policy that prohibits child labour, forced labour, and compulsory labour, in accordance with the ILO Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work and applicable labour laws, to safeguard the welfare and rights of all workers. In the reporting year, the company had no instances of child labour, forced labour, or compulsory labour, and identified no associated risks within its operations. Moreover, BCH is committed to extending its due diligence and prevention measures on these issues to business partners and stakeholders across the company’s value chain in 2024, in line with its Human Rights Policy.
In addition, the company promotes diversity and non-discrimination by providing equal employment opportunities for underprivileged groups, including persons with disabilities, to help them achieve stable income and improved quality of life. BCH also implements various programs and initiatives to support youth development, such as training, internships, and capacity-building in medical and healthcare fields, aiming to prepare the next generation of professionals and contribute to the development of future medical and healthcare personnel.
BCH is committed to operating with transparency and inclusiveness by actively engaging with stakeholders through meetings, feedback mechanisms, and grievance channels, ensuring that all complaints are appropriately addressed and remedied. In addition, the company provides human rights training for employees and relevant departments, particularly the Human Resources, Procurement, and Medical departments to raise awareness and enhance understanding of respecting human rights at every stage of operations.
